Master Michael Yoon

Under Grand master Ki. C. Yoon, Master Michael Yoon along with his younger brother has started training since 3 years old. While learning the art of the Hap Ki Moo Do, he realized the importance of discipline and how it closely relates to everyday living. Therefore, learning the art of the Hap Ki Moo Do is not for just physical fitness but a way of life. Master Michael Yoon has achieved his first degree black belt at an age 12 and was involved in numerous exhibition and demonstration all over Calgary. Currently he holds 7th degree black belt and is quite active in regular training and conditioning of the students of Hap Ki Moo Do.

Master Michael Yoon also holds doctorate degree in Chiropractic and Acupuncture for over 10 years. Along with his regular training, Master Michael Yoon has been maintaining patients’ health through exercise and spinal care in his clinic (Century Chiropractic Wellness Center). Master Michael Yoon has been active in mentoring of martial students as well as mentoring for future doctors of Chiropractic. He continues to follow the footstep of his grand master Ki. C. Yoon and is also passing these traditions to his three sons Ethan, Victor and Logan Yoon.

Instructor Troy Choi

Korean name: Choi Kwang-Ho
Born: Tae Chun, Korea
DOB: April 7, 1984

Martial Arts Background:

  • Hap Ki Do 4th degree
  • Tae Kwon Do 2nd degree
  • Judo 2nd degree
  • Kendo 4th degree

Instructor Troy started training at the age of 16 In Korea under Master Koo in the art of Hap Ki Do. He transitioned into Tae Kwon Do, Judo and Ken do at Hye Chun Collage. After collage he enlisted in the Korean Army and served for 2 years training the soldiers in Tae Kwon Do and after that at a US Army base in Seoul. He was then handpicked by Grand Master Ki C. Yoon to assist with running the studio and training students using his vast knowledge and exceptional skill in all four martial arts.

Instructor Troy started Martial arts for self defense and so that he could develop both his body and his mind together believing that martial arts are important to build confidence in all areas of life. He hopes to grow his martial arts knowledge and build a Canadian Hap Ki Do Association so that he can share his skills and knowledge all over Canada.
